A few days after he hit headlines by making a brilliant speech and hugging Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Parliament, Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday asserted that “we don’t need to hate” someone even if “we disagree with them”.
“We can fight someone we disagree with but we don’t need to hate them,” Gandhi said in New Delhi at the launch of Karan Thapar’s book Devil’s Advocate.
“That is an active choice. We can hug them and fight them. I disagree completely and fight every inch with Mr Advani (LK Advani in the audience) but I don’t need to hate him, he added.
Further, he underlined that the Congress party will work to defeat the BJP, but there is no need to hate them. “My friend Mr Yechury (Sitaram Yechury) is here, and we can all fight the BJP together but we don’t need to hate them. But I don’t know if they feel the same way,” he said.
