The Bhartiya Janta Party government on Wednesday admitted to the Parliament that there had been no incidents of exodus of Hindu families from Deoband town in Uttar Pradesh.

Union Minister Hansraj Gangaram Ahir, while replying to a question posed on the large-scale exodus of Hindu families in the state, said, “A report in this regard has been received from the government of Uttar Pradesh. As per the report, no matter related to exodus of Hindu families in Banhera Khas village of Deoband, Saharanpur has been reported,” reported The Hindu.

Before the 2017 assembly elections in the state, BJP president Amit Shah and now Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had raised concerns over the forced mass departure of at least 40 families from districts in UP.

The BJP had sent a special team of its members to investigate the matter in Kairana constituency in western UP.

The BJP had claimed that there was a ‘collapse’ of law and order in the state and had also demanded a CBI inquiry.
