A minor teenage girl admitted to a private hospital in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, was allegedly raped by five men — a member of the hospital staff and four others — on November 3. The victim who was in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) had been admitted a few days prior to the incident and was receiving treatment for snakebite.
The incident came to light when the girl spoke about it while being transferred from the ICU to the general ward. A Singh, the superintendent of police, told ANI, “She narrated the incident after she was shifted to the general ward. A case has been registered and an investigation is underway.”

ANI further reported that the girl also told her grandmother that five men, one of whom was in uniform, came to the ICU at night and tried to sedate her. After much resistance, they gagged her and tied her hands, before raping her.
Police officials have said that a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed and the CCTV footage of the ICU has also been obtained by them. All five men accused of the charges, four of whom who are unidentified, are absconding.
