Umar Khalid Shares Picture Of His Attacker With Sudarshan News Channel Editor-In-Chief

Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) student leader Umar Khalid, who was attacked by armed assailants on Monday at the Constitution Club in New Delhi, shared a picture of his attacker today, with Suresh Chavhanke, editor-in-chief of Hindi news channel Sudarshan News.

Umar Khalid took to Twitter and wrote:

On Independence day, in a video which went viral on social media, two men claimed to be the attackers of Khalid. The men in the video identified themselves as Naveen Dalal and Darvesh Shahpur.

The video begins with the men raising slogans of ‘Inquilab Zindabaad’, ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Vande Mataram’. Then, one of the men said, “We respect the Supreme Court and the Constitution, but we are angry that there is no proper provision in the Constitution to punish these pagal kutte (mad dogs,) like the JNU gang…Our elders in Haryana have taught us that mad dogs should be done away with, without delay. We, Darvesh Shahpur and Naveen Dalal Mandothi, are responsible for the attack on Umar Khalid in Delhi…this attack was a gift from us this Independence Day. We will surrender to the police on 17 August at 12 noon at patriot Kartar Singh Sarabha’s village, at his home.”
