BJP Workers Vandalize Party Headquarters In Telangana After It Denied Ticket To Hopeful

BJP MP Rekha Verma booked

The Nizamabad district headquarters of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was attacked and vandalized by party workers on Saturday. The workers were upset that Dhanpal Suryanarayana Gupta, the BJP state executive, was not given a ticket for the Nizamabad (Urban) constituency for the upcoming assembly elections in Telangana. Earlier, on November 2, the BJP had released its second list of candidates for the state assembly elections.

Gupta had unsuccessfully contested the 2014 Telangana assembly elections from the same constituency. Bigala Ganesh of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) had won the elections. The BJP gave Endala Lakshminarayana a ticket to contest the elections from the constituency.

Gupta, who was hopeful of receiving a ticket to fight the December 7 elections, told the Times of India, “Even after my defeat in the previous assembly elections, I continued my work for the past four years. This time I had hoped that I will grab the seat. But the party has done gross injustice by giving ticket to Lakshminarayana.”

Speaking about the workers attacking the party headquarters, he added, “Some of the workers pained by this decision of the party resorted to attacking the party office which is unfortunate.”

The BJP also faced stiff protests for its candidates announced for the Serilingampally, Malakpet, Warangal and Ibrahimpatnam constituencies. After naming 38 candidates in its first list, the BJP’s named 28 candidates in the second-list of candidates for the 119-member legislative assembly.
