Congress Fields Olympian Krishna Poonia from Jaipur Rural Lok Sabha Seat

Poonia will contest against Union Information and Broadcasting Minister and Olympic medallist Rajyavardhan Rathore, who is the Jaipur Rural MP.

There were several requests for the Congress president to contest from Wayanad, senior party leader AK Antony said.

With this, the number of total candidates announced by the party for the Lok Sabha polls has reached 293.

The party has announced a total of 259 candidates so far.

The party also announced 32 nominees for state polls in Sikkim.

The eighth list contains party candidates from the states of Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Manipur and Maharashtra.

The announcement was made at the “Holi Milan” programme organised by the Congress in the city.

The party fielded former Union Minister Renuka Chowdhury from Khammam in Telangana.

Both Lok Sabha and Assembly polls will be held in the state simultaneously on April 11.

With this, the party has released names of 146 candidates for the Lok Sabha election.

The party separately also issued a list of 36 candidates for Odisha Assembly elections.
