Taking a stab at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party President Amit Shah, actor and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament (MP) Shatrughan Sinha said Rahul Gandhi was “the man to be watched today”.
In a tweet, posted on Thursday, December 20, the Patna MP said, “…It’s not the time for one man show two men army anymore. Man to be watched today, whether you like him or not, the nation, specially the farmers and younger generation seem to love @rahulgandhi. Let’s not live in fool’s paradise any more. Work hard and show results though the time is running out. Jai Hind!”

Sinha also criticised Modi’s barrage of personal attacks towards the Congress president and his mother, the party chairperson, Sonia Gandhi. “Sirji! Don’t you think that personal attacks should stop? That too on a lady of substance, Chairperson, Congress #MrsSoniaGandhi and leader of the future, Rahul Gandhi @RahulGandhi.” Adding that the Gandhi family had “contributed enormously” in developing the country, which was the BJP’s agenda as well, the Patna MP mentioned, “…Our verbal attacks have helped them to become more popular and gained them sympathy too.”

He also invoked BJP’s recent loss in the assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh — where it was in power — to the Congress, and the Rafale scam. He said, “Now since the most awaited and expected results are out, our people should also realize this, as we face humiliation in our defeat in the recent elections. It is high time and right time to be dignified, courteous, transparent and come clean on the Rafale deal. Had we done so earlier we would not be facing such rejection.”
