A senior photojornalsit was allegedly beaten up by a Uttar Police official during Kinnar Akhada procession at Kumbh Mela in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh.
For the first time, the Kinnar Akhada participated in a religious procession in Kumbh Mela on Jauary 6. The Times of India photojournalist Anindya Chattopadhyay took to Twitter to mention that he was beaten by a police official during the event.

Chattopadhyay’s comment came after another journalist Piyush Rai shared an image on Twitter showing a police official thrashing a person. In his tweet, Rai mentioned that the official was a “DSP rank cop”.
Very unfortunate that such scenes are coming out from Prayagraj where exceptional measures were taken to ensure highest level of professionalism by UP Police. And this is what it has come down to. A DSP rank cop assaulting a senior TOI photojournalist. Shameful. @Uppolice pic.twitter.com/ifGovhfF9Z
