Shaktikanta Das will be appointed as the new Reserve Bank of India (RBI) governor, reports suggest.

Das will replace Urjit Patel who has resigned on Monday, December 10, citing personal reasons.
The 63-year-old, a 1980-batch Tamil Nadu cadre Indian Administrative Service (IAS) Officer was the economics affairs secretary when Modi government announced demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes in November 2016.
