During a press conference on Thursday, when a journalist asked actor Salman Khan about actress Tanushree Dutta’s allegations of harassment on Nana Patekar, he humiliated the mediaperson and shamelessly cracked jokes.

If this wasn’t enough, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, who was also present at the press conference, giggled at the question.

When asked about the allegations, Salman dodged the question claiming he is unaware of the incident.

“I am not aware of this. Let me know and understand what is happening. I have been here and I am sure that the legal team will handle that. We will see what is going on. I am not aware of it,” Salman said. At this point, the moderator was heard requesting the journalists to “maintain dignity” of the event by not asking any such questions. Salman added, “It’s a sporting event, be sportive.”

At the end, Salman again made an irksome statement. He asked the moderator not to take questions from one particular section because “ye log pata nahi kaha lekar jaa rhe hai (these people are taking us don’t know where).”

So much for stardom, right?

All this while, Rijiju can be seen giggling, completely ignorant and disrespectful towards the sensitivity of the topic.

Instead of speaking in support of the actress, Salman stooped to a new low by cracking jokes and insulting the journalists present at the event. It is because of so-called superstars like Salman that women are discouraged to come out in the open and talk about sexual harassment.
