The Indian Police Service (Central) Association on Friday condemned Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur’s remark calling slain Mumbai ATS chief Hemant Karkare ‘anti-national’ and saying that her ‘curse’ brought about his demise.
Noting Karkare’s martyrdom, the Association wrote, “Ashok Chakra awardee late Sri Hemant Karkare, IPS made the supreme sacrifice fighting terrorists,” adding that “Those of us in uniform condemn the insulting statement made by a candidate and demand that sacrifices of all our martyrs be respected.”

Thakur has been nominated by the BJP as the Lok Sabha Candidate from Bhopal.
Karkare was killed during the 26/11 terror attack in Mumbai in 2008. He was awarded the Ashok Chakra posthumously. He was also the officer who investigated the 2008 Malegaon bomb blast in which Thakur was arrested and chargesheeted. She is currently out on bail.
