Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat, delivering a speech at a Vijayadashami event in Nagpur on Thursday, said that in the Sabarimala case, the Supreme Court did not consider “premise of the tradition that has been accepted by society and continuously followed for years together.”
Disrespecting the apex court’s order, Bhagwat claimed that “the version of heads of religious denominations and faiths of crores of devotees was not taken into consideration.” Bhagwat forgets that if the word of the heads of religious faiths was given too much importance, women would still be going through the draconian practice of sati.
The Sabarimala Temple in Kerala opened for the first time on Wednesday after the Supreme Court’s order allowing entry of women into the 800-year old shrine. However, right-wing groups staging violent protests outside the shrine have not allowed any woman in in the age group of 10-50 to enter the temple.
While right-wing groups are protesting violently outside the Sabarimala shrine, assaulting women including journalists, Bhagwat said that it is “urban Maoism” that is responsible for spreading hate in the country.
According to Bhagwat’ pretty much everyone except the RSS is engaged in anti-national activities. The irony, that he used the term ‘blind followers’ to demonise the left, did not go unnoticed. “To establish an anti-national leadership with blind followers solely committed to them is the Neo-Left doctrine of these Urban Naxals. Their cohorts already established in SM and MSM, intellectual circles&other institutions are associated with such activities,” he added.
