Bhupesh Baghel, Chhattisgarh Congress president claimed that the reserve Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) could be exchanged with the actual EVMs used in the state elections.

Addressing a press conference in Raipur on Tuesday, December 4, Baghel said, “…The extra (reserve) EVMs have been kept in the same strongrooms where the EVMs (ones used in elections) are kept. While transporting EVMs from the strongrooms, there is no security. There is no person there, either from a political party, or any form of security. At that time, there is a possibility of (the reserve) EVMs being interchanged (with the ones used in the elections).

Baghel also alleged there was a difference of around 47,000 votes between the official numbers that were released and the numbers obtained by Congress’ polling agents.
