Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] general secretary Sitaram Yechury hit out at Prime Minister Narendra for allegedly helping Anil Ambani secure tax benefits from French authorities through Rafale negotiations.
He was referring to an exposé by French newspaper Le Monde which stated that French authorities gave Anil Ambani’s company a tax waiver of 143.7 million Euros months after PM Modi announced the Rafale deal.
The CPI(M) leader tweeted that Modi bypassed the homegrown weapons manufacturer Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) to give the deal to “crony” Anil Ambani. The number of aircrafts to be bought was also brought down, compromising national security in the process, he added.
Modi goes to France, compromises national security by signing on fewer aircraft, gives deal to crony Ambani, HAL is kept out.
So the public pays 41% higher amount for fewer aircraft and crony also gets massive tax breaks. Modi formula of helping his rich friends. #RafaleScam https://t.co/LCsoLRpWMU— Sitaram Yechury (@SitaramYechury) April 13, 2019
Yechury further said that as a result of the revised Rafale deal, the Indian taxpayer pays 41% more for fewer aircrafts and Ambani gets tax breaks from the French government, and that this is “Modi formula of helping his rich friends.”
In another tweet Yechury said that the whole nexus of Rafale deal is out in the open. The Prime Minister’s office bypassed the Indian Air Force and was directly linked to Rafale scam. The National Security Agency (NSA) overreached and was illegally negotiating the deal.
He also pointed out that former French President Francoise Hollande had already said that Modi had specifically asked for the Rafale deal to go to Anil Ambani. This bolstered the Modi-Ambani connection. The latter’s French tax waivers was also in the mix, hence Ambani needed the deal.
The whole nexus is now coming out into the open. PMO was directly involved in Rafale scam bypassing our Air Force, and NSA was illegally negotiating in Paris. As former French President said, Modi asked for Anil Ambani as a partner for the deal. And now this – French tax waivers pic.twitter.com/djgZxkLzax

In conclusion, the CPIM leader pointed out that public money was used by the Modi-led BJP government to pay much higher for fewer Rafale fighter jets to help out Modi’s friend Anil Ambani and get him a tax break.
Yechury also brought up that it was only natural the BJP introduced anonymous electoral bonds to help line the party’s wallets, hence making corruption legal.
So, our public money is used by Modi govt to pay exorbitantly more for far fewer Rafale fighters than required, to benefit a crony businessman through the defence deal and French tax benefit. No wonder BJP introduced secret Electoral Bonds for party funding, legalising corruption https://t.co/zyMEqtFGAV
