Actor Kangana Ranaut, viewed ‘outspoken’ by many till some time ago, reportedly spiralled into a right-wing Twitter troll level hatefulness on Friday, February 15 when she launched a personal attack against veteran actor Shabana Azmi.
In her graceful and befitting reply to Kangana, Azmi’s reminded everyone that Kangana was choosing to attack an individual at a time when the entire nation was standing together. Azmi said, “You really think at a time like this a personal attack on me can be of any significance when the entire country stands as one in our grief and in condemning this dastardly Pulwama attack ? May God bless her,” reported DNA.
On Friday, as a mark of protest against the Pulwama attack, Shabana Azmi and Javed Akhtar had declined to participate in a two-day literary event in Pakistan. Responding to this, Kangana had reportedly said, “People like Shabana Azmi calling for halt on cultural exchange — they are the ones who promote Bharat Tere Tukde Honge gangs… why did they organise an event in Karachi in the first place when Pakistani artistes have been banned after Uri attacks? And now they are trying to save face?”

Ensuring that she didn’t leave out any buzzwords like”tukde tukde gang”, “anti-national” from a right-wing troll’s dictionary, Kangana added, “The film industry is full of such anti-nationals who boost enemies’ morals in many ways, but right now is the time to focus on decisive actions… Pakistan’s ban is not the focus, Pakistan’s destruction is,” reported DNA.
Shabana Azmi had taken to twitter to express grief at the Pulwama attack and had announced the cancellation of the Karachi event saying that she stood in solidarity with the grieving families of those killed in the attack.
