BIG: Priyanka Gandhi Makes Formal Entry Into Politics, Given Charge Of The Challenging East U.P.

The Congress party made a flurry of new appointments on Wednesday, January 23. Priyanka Gandhi was appointed All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary of east Uttar Pradesh ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Jyotiraditya Scindia was appointed as general secretary in charge of west Uttar Pradesh by Congress president Rahul Gandhi.

KC Venugopal, Lok Sabha MP from Alappuzha, Kerala, was appointed as the general secretary of the AICC. He will be succeeding Ashok Gehlot. An AICC press release added that Venugopal would continue to remain the AICC general secretary in-charge for Karnataka as well.

Veteran Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad has been appointed as the general secretary for the AICC in Haryana. Azad was the general secretary for the party in Uttar Pradesh before this.
