Congress general secretary for eastern Uttar Pradesh Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Friday, May 17, conducted a roadshow in Mirzapur. Gandhi, at several points, took jibes at Narendra Modi, even comparing him to Bollywood veteran Amitabh Bachchan once. Voting will be held in 13 parliamentary constituencies of the state on Sunday, May 19. It will be the final day of polling.

– This election is an election in which we are fighting to save our democracy and our democratic institutions, and every citizen must cast his vote responsibly.
– Despite the BJP being in power both at the Centre and in the state, you have not seen development. You have only had to bear losses. GST and demonetisation caused the carpet industry here to slump by 50 per cent.
– When stray cattle destroy your crops, do these prominent leaders, these chowkidars, do they come to stand guard?

– Farmers’ income has halved. You don’t get fair prices for yor produce. You don’t receive seeds and fertilisers on time. Farmers are drowning in debt. 12,000 farmers have committed suicide in the last five years.

– Our PM, who calls himself so powerful, who flexes his 56-inch chest, does not have the guts to come and talk to farmers.
– Under the BJP rule, employment numbers went down by five crores. Many youths have ended up on the streets. There is no employment in cities and in villages, they (BJP) have weakened MGNREGA.
– You should understand that you have voted for the world’s greatest actor as your PM. It would have been better if you had elected Amitabh Bachchan. Neither would have worked for your good anyway.

– He showed you dreams of Rs 15 Lakhs. But in reality, he gave you Rs 2,000. And even that Rs 2,000 that they have given to a few people, they have started taking it back.
– He (Modi) told you all “It’s not wrong to dream”. But it is wrong to lead people on with false hopes and dreams.
