Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Bhopal Lok Sabha seat and Malegaon blast accused Sadhvi Pragya Thakur was caught on camera evading a journalist’s question about the victims of the blast.
According to reports, 7 people including a 15-year-old boy had died in the 2008 blast. Thakur was arrested in connection with the blasts and terror charges were brought against her under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA). She is currently out on bail on health grounds.
When an India Today reporter asked Thakur about those who were killed in the blasts, she raised both her hands in the air and said, “Ho gaya, ho gaya, Bharat mata ki jai, Vande Mataram.”

With this, Thakur joined a growing list of BJP leaders who use the slogan ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ to dodge questions and any accountability.
Earlier this month, BJP MP Kirron Kher’s husband Anupam Kher had done the same when he was asked about the actor-turned-politician’s neglect of her constituency Chandigarh.
Similarly, when a voter had asked BJP West Delhi MP, Parvesh Verma, about what he had done for the constituency in the last five years, Verma had said, “I’ll answer…I’ll tell..but not like this.. here…is there anyone else..okay now raise your hands and say ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai!’”
