No senior leader from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) turned up when the body of CRPF inspector Pintu Kumar Singh, who died in an anti-terrorist operation in Kupwaram, Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, was brought to Patna airport on March 3. They were reportedly occupied with the “Sankalp” rally in the state capital. Prime Minister Narendra Modi too was present in the city to address a rally.
Speaking to NDTV, Sanjay Singh, uncle of the slain CRPF inspector said, “It’s very unfortunate that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar did not bother to come to pay his last respect.” Four security personnel, including an officer, were killed during an anti-terrorist operation in Kupwara on March 1.
While no one from the NDA showed up, the airport was reportedly visited by important persons, including District magistrate Kumar Ravi, senior police officer Garima Mallick, top officers of the Central Reserve Police Force, state Congress chief Madan Mohan Jha and Lok Janshakti Party parliamentarian Choudhary Mahboob Ali Kaiser. Jha, speaking to NDTV said: “I am not here for politics. I came to pay my respect.”
In the Sankalp rally, Nitish Kumar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared a stage for the first time in a decade.
