A non-bailable warrant has, reportedly, been issued against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament Sakshi Maharaj and four others in a case involving fraudulent transfer of cremation ground. Pawan Kumar Tyagi, the judge of the MP-MLA court issued the warrant on Monday, December 17. The five accused have also been ordered to be immediately arrested.

News18 reported that in 2012, the Unnao MP— along with Prem Singh, Mukesh Kumar, Jai Prakash and Chokhelal—had allegedly illegally transferred land, which was part of a cremation ground, to their names.

According to a report published in Bolta Hindustan, following an FIR filed in Etah police station, police completed its investigations and filed a chargesheet in the court. However, although the court had repeatedly summoned the accused for a hearing to fix charges, none of them responded to the summons which also led to the non-bailable warrant being issued.

The next hearing of the case has been set for March 2019.
