Farmers in Gujarat’s Saurashtra are living in constant fear as their groundnut stock lies in the open and is under threat of damage from early rains. Recently, untimely rain and storm in Amreli and Savarkundla destroyed crops of several farmers.
According to a GoNews report, to allay the fears of farmers in Rajkot, the Mandi Samiti Vyapaar Sangh has sought protection of the groundnut stock lying in the open.
Farmers are worried that their crop will not be sold at even half its price if damaged by rains.
Last year, around 1,500 farmers in Surendranagar, Porbandar, Jamnagar and Rajkot suffered due to untimely monsoon rains in the state.
