In a show of muscle power, Rudrapur Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Rajkumar Thukral warned that the right-wing outfits will fight the “destroyers of the Hindu culture” if the police and the administration fail to do their duties. He asked why a Muslim boy was roaming with a Hindu girl around the temple premises, in light of the recent incident where Sub Inspector Gagandeep Singh saved a youth from mob attack.
He made the statement during his visit to the Garjiya temple in Uttarakhand’s Ramnagar town. The temple was recently in the news after Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) activists saw Irfan (23) with a 19-year-old Hindu girl near the temple and began beating him up. It was Sub Inspector Gagandeep Singh of Uttarakhand’s Ramnagar police station who came to the rescue of Irfan and saved him from the irate mob. Singh was later rewarded by the Uttarakhand Police for his brave act.
Thukral, while speaking to the media on Saturday, objected to the presence of a Muslim youth on the temple premises. “It is time to teach a lesson to the people who want to destroy the atmosphere of Ramnagar. If (Ramnagar) police and the administration does not wake up then the Hindu Sena (army) will have to come out and fight the people who wish to destroy Hindu culture,” Thukral was quoted by The Indian Express as saying.
The BJP MLA added: “When we do not visit mosques, why should they enter temples? He went on to question their intent behind such an act,” Navbharat Times reported.
“Why were they roaming (in the temple premises) with a Hindu girl? They tried to ignite the emotions of the Hindu community,” Thukral said.
Talking about love jihad, Thukral in an assertive tone said, “We will fight the ongoing plans of destroying Hindu culture, of forced religious conversions and of strengthening the roots of love jihad.”
