The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has filled the route to Kedarnath with hoardings of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This has irked the local priests.
“Every country has a prime minister and many political leaders have visited Kedarnath in the past. Many governments have changed in the country, but nobody has ever put their pictures here before,” Srinivas Poshti, Tirth purohit (priest) told Go News.
“I am protesting against these hoardings. I want them (BJP) to keep politics away from temples. This is a spiritual place and should only be seen as a place of worship,” Poshti added.
Kedarnath, the spiritual destination sees many devotees from across the world who throng the place during the Char Dham yatra.
