People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday, February 17 slammed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah for politicising the Pulwama terror attack incident.
Speaking at a rally in Assam’s Lakhimpur district, Shah said that the sacrifice of the slain jawans won’t go in vain as it’s not the Congress government which is at the Centre.
BJP President Amit Shah in Lakhimpur,Assam: I pay my tributes to Assam’s son Maneswar Basumatary, along with the other CRPF personnel. Their sacrifice won’t go in vain as it’s not the Congress government which is at the Centre, it is the BJP which is at the Centre. #PulwamaAttack pic.twitter.com/Y7F3K2HXrr

In a tweet, Mufti asked what was the need to play politics over a tragedy of this magnitude.
She tweeted:
Why play politics over a tragedy of this magnitude? Wonder who the bhakts will blame now ? Was it the weather ? Forget josh, where is the hosh? https://t.co/eNyHCnECd9

Similarly, Swaraj India president Yogendra Yadav underlined that Shah should not use the national tragedy for partisan politics.
He wrote:
Please @AmitShah ji.
Don’t use this national tragedy for partisan politics.I repeat my proposal for national consensus: let no political party use Pulwama attack and response into an electoral issue.
Please RT if you want Amit Shah and others to refrain from such statements. https://t.co/9066VTfFkh

It is noteworthy that in clear contrast to Shah’s behaviour, Congress party president Rahul Gandhi stated that the entire Opposition is fully supportive of the government and the security forces.
