A mob assaulted a man, accusing him of being gay, in Mangaluru, Karnataka. The video of the attack went viral following which the police reportedly filed a case against the attackers.
Deccan Herald reported that the victim was identified as Lokesh Poojary from Bikarnakatte, a Daiva Patri (divine interpreter). The attackers also cut off his long hair with a sickle, and forcibly removed the bangles as worn by a Patri.
The men ‘accused’ Poojary of having homosexual relations and demanded an ‘apology’ from him. The video of the brutal hate crime was circulated on social media.
