Babulal Gaur, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Madhya Pradesh chief minister reportedly pre-emptively congratulated Congress leader and Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) Arif Aqueel for his party winning the state elections, and for him becoming a minister.
India TV reported a video shared on Thursday, November 29, where Gaur can be seen telling Aqueel, “Listen, you are forming the government. You are becoming a minister. Congratulations.” Aqueel, who represents Bhopal North constituency, is seeking another term.

According to India Today, when asked about his statement, the 88-year-old BJP leader reportedly downplayed the conversation. He said, “If someone comes home then I will not curse him. If someone comes home, I will offer him sweets, and not poison. All this is love for each other, do not associate it with politics.”
The elections for the 230-member Madhya Pradesh Assembly was held in a single phase on Wednesday, November 28. The counting of the votes will be done on December 11.
