Following the Pulwama terror attack and the tensions with Pakistan, Political analyst Partha Das of Chanakyya has shared his predictions for the 2019 Lok Sabha Polls. As per Das, the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) will win 296 seats. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA), as per his analysis will win 247 seats.
In Uttar Pradesh, he predicts that the NDA will get 25 out of the 80 seats whereas the UPA will bag 6 seats. The Samajwadi Party (SP), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) alliance in the state will win a whopping 49 seats in the key northern state. He also states that the SP-BSP-RLD will form a post-poll alliance with the Congress-led UPA. This is a striking loss for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) which currently has 68 seats in the state.
#Prediction2019 , we considered impact of #PulwamaAttack. Prepoll condition, #UPA -205, #NDA-198. Probable Post Poll scenario, UPA-296, NDA-247. @INCIndia +@AamAadmiParty pre-poll alliance will happen in #NewDelhi. pic.twitter.com/94RJEpZOMH

In the southern state of Tamil Nadu, where the BJP has recently formulated an alliance with All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), Das forecasts that the UPA-Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) alliance will win a 36 out of the 40 seats (including Puducherry). This is a massive victory for the UPA and DMK, as currently it is the AIADMK which has 37 seats in the Lok Sabha.
He cites that the AIADMK will be contesting only on 20 seats, which is a significant reduction from their current strength. He adds that the present AIADMK MPs are well aware of the fact that they will not be able to win this time.
We r predicting 36 Seats for UPA (DMK+) & 4 seats for NDA(AIADMK+) for #TN & Pondichery. Why?
1. @AIADMKOfficial presently has 37 MPs, now they r going to contest 20 seats. Please note there is no dissent. Because the present MPs
know very well that they can't win this time.— Partha Das (@partha2019LS) March 4, 2019
Last year, former BJP leader Yashwant Sinha had speculated that the BJP’s 2019 performance — under the leadership of Narendra Modi and Amit Shah — would not even come close to that of 2014. He further said that many believe the BJP would not even manage to win 200 seats in the general elections.
