Congress president Rahul Gandhi spoke to his party’s booth workers in New Delhi on Monday, a day after the Lok Sabha polls were announced. Here are a few important quotes from his speech:
– Modi used to be on stage, 10-15 of his people would stand on stage and say, “achhe din”. The people would say, “aenge”. Today, ask anybody, you go after the meeting, ask anyone in Delhi — just say these words, “chowkidar” and people will say “chor hai”.
– You (Modi) talked about corruption. Why did you neglect HAL and give Anil Ambani the contract? Why did you (Modi) buy a Rs 526 Crore jet for Rs 1,600 crores? Why give Anil Ambani — a man who has never built planes — the contract?
– He (Modi) talked about the Congress, Rajiv Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi, but did not utter Anil Ambani’s name.
– On the one hand, Narendra Modi says he’ll provide jobs for two crore youth. And right after that, at 8 in the evening, he goes ahead with demonetisation.

– When Narendra Modi demonetised Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes, Manmohan Singh said to the Rajya Sabha that this would result in a fall of 2 per cent in GDP. A year later, we found out that this was information economists could have figured out and what Manmohan Singh said came true. There was a 2 per cent drop in the GDP.
– Green revolution, land revolution, the computer revolution, liberalisation, bank nationalisation, telecom revolution — this was all that the Congress party has done together with the people of India.
– In the Pulwama terror attack where 40 CRPF men lost their lives, who was responsible for it? Jaish-e-Mohammad’s Masood Azhar. But hear the truth about those with 56-inch chests. National Security Adviser Ajit Doval sat in a plane with Masood Azhar and flew him to Kandahar for his release.
– The Pulwama bomb blast was obviously carried out by JeM and Pakistan. But Masood Azhar was released by the BJP. Congress’s two prime ministers were assassinated; we don’t bend before the will of others.
– You tell me, how much did the demonetisation drive, Gabbar Singh Tax (GST) affect Delhi’s small businessmen and SME business? They were destroyed.
– We have the highest unemployment rate ever in 45 years. Add there we have Narendra Modi giving speeches about “Make in India”. But if you look behind his shirt, you will find “Made in China”. Under his shoes, on his cell phone, with which he takes selfies, you will find “Made in China” written there. I guarantee it.
– Basically, Narendra Modi’s and RSS’s ideology is that of fear and hatred. And you all are fearless.
– You have to decide, you want Gandhi’s India or Godse’s India. On one hand, there is love, brotherhood, on the other is hate, fear. Gandhiji was fearless, stayed in jail for years, but spoke with the British with love, while (Veer) Savarkar wrote letters to the British apologising and asking to be let off.
