As Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Kirron Kher and her actor husband Anupam Kher embarked on a roadshow in Chandigarh on the way to file her nomination papers, Kiron and her husband avoided answering questions on her work by propping up the BJP’s hyper-nationalistic approach and their surface level charm.
A TV9Bharatvarsh reporter asked the couple about allegations that Kirron Kher used 5 years in power to concentrate more on her acting career than as a politician. Instead of answering the question like a normal person, Anupam Kher loudly proclaimed “Bharat Mata ki jai!”

Subsequently when the reporter directly asked Kirron Kher about the allegations, she said, “It’s a very good thing, congratulations to all. With the whole of Chandigarh and your well wishes, the city’s wishes, and for them I am about to register my name as a candidate. Thank you.”
