Mumbai: A portion of the boundary wall of suburban Kurla railway station collapsed on Friday injuring four persons, a civic official said.
According to PTI, the incident took place around 9.50 am near platform no. 1, official of the Disaster Management Cell of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said.
“The injured have been admitted to the nearby Bhabha Hospital and all of them are out of danger,” the official said adding that the incident has not affected the rail traffic in any way.
A Central Railway (CR) official informed the news agency that a team of engineers has reached the spot and trying to find out the reason behind the wall cave-in.

“Prima facie, the roots of a tree located close to the wall might have weakened its base. But things will be clear only after the inquiry,” he said.
Lat week, the Union government had approved the Jharkhand government’s proposal to change the name of Nagar Untari town and railway station to Banshidhar Nagar, after Banshidhar Temple which is dedicated to Lord Krishna in Garhwa district, PTI reported.
In August, Amit Shah attended the ceremony to mark the renaming of Mughalsarai station as Deen Dayal Upadhyaya junction in Uttar Pradesh. Recently, the name of Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) was changed to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus.
The Modi government is paying a lot more attention in renaming stations than improving the infrastructure.
Ironically, the Varanasi railway station is one of the least clean stations in the country, the latest Railway Cleanliness Survey suggests.
