Bharatiya Janata Party rallies witnessing low attendance has almost become a trend. Whether it’s Amit Shah, Narendra Modi, Nitin Gadkari, Devendra Fadnavis or Yogi Adityanath, voters seem to be disinterested in listening to BJP leaders speak for hours.

The latest BJP leader to witness only a handful of people at his rally is Gautam Gambhir, the party’s candidate from East Delhi. Aam Admi Party’s joint secretary Akshay Marathe took to Twitter to highlight the state of Gambhir’s May 9 rally in Delhi’s Mayur Vihar.

Marathe wrote, “If you were wondering why the Gautam Gambhir camp is resorting to such below the belt tactics, take a look at these pictures from his jan sabha in Mayur Vihar!”

The battle for the East Delhi constituency has turned ugly. The Aam Aadmi Party has accused Gautam Gambhir and the BJP of distributing copies of a derogatory pamphlet against AAP leaders Atishi (Gambhir’s rival) and Manish Sisodia.

At a press conference in New Delhi, Atishi broke down while reading contents of the pamphlet and stated that the pamphlets were distributed in several colonies of East Delhi, including Krishna Nagar.

Sisodia had said, “The derogatory pamphlets were distributed by Gambhir in several colonies of East Delhi, also as inserts in some newspapers. It was not expected from a sportsperson like him. When Gambhir used to play cricket, we cheered for him.”

Gautam Gambhir, on the other hand, has challenged the AAP and Arvind Kejriwal to prove that he had distributed the pamphlets. Should AAP manage to confirm that, Gambhir said he would “hang himself” in public.
