Speaking to the press, Gandhi set out the agenda for the upcoming general elections. He said, “We will not let the prime minister rest until he waives loans. Congress manifesto for 2019 would promise farm loan waiver. We will do it guaranteed 100 per cent if the Narendra Modi government doesn’t do it by then,” reported IE.
Referring to the supposed “typographical errors” in the Rafale verdict of the Supreme Court, Gandhi took a dig at the government saying, “JPC, Rafale, farm loan waivers, demonetization, typo errors will soon emerge in everything. People have been lied to, farmers & small traders are being looted. Demonetization is the biggest scam in the world,” reported ANI.

Gandhi reportedly added, “After coming to power the Modi government has not waived of a single rupee. We had promised loan waiver during our poll campaigns and delivered it in six hours in two states. Rajasthan will follow soon.”
Ahead of the assembly elections in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, the Congress party had promised to waive off farm loans within 10 days of coming into power. Kamal Nath and Bhupesh Baghel, newly-appointed Congress chief ministers of M.P. and Chhattisgarh respectively, announced the waivers in their states on the same day as their respective oath-taking ceremonies — Monday, December 17.
