Sources have told NC24x7 that Congress leader Dinesh Gundu Rao is the front-runner for Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president’s post.
Gundu Rao will be the next KPCC chief, sources told NC24x7. He is the current working president of KPCC and represents the Gandhinagar constituency. Reportedly, Gundu Rao is not considered for a ministerial berth now.
Earlier reporters had suggested that D K Shivakumar will be appointed as the KPCC president. However, Congress chief Rahul Gandhi was reportedly stuck to the party’s policy of “one man one post”. He was not keen on acceding to Shivakumar’s demand for the KPCC post along with a portfolio in the ministry.
Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara, who has been the longest-serving KPCC president will make way for the new KPCC chief. He was appointed as the president on October 27, 2010. The party went to elections in 2013 and 2018 under his leadership as the president of the Congress state unit.
