According to The Hindu report, Delhi High Court reunited an interfaith couple after Ghaziabad police forcibly separated them on July 3.

The woman is Muslim and the man is a Hindu.

The couple got married on June 28. Even though both of them are well above the legally stipulated age of marriage, the police picked them up from the man’s residence at Jawaharlal Nehru Campus and imprisoned the man for two nights without presenting him before a court.

The judgement came after the man moved a habeas corpus plea (a writ requiring a person under arrest to be brought before a judge or into court), before the Delhi High Court, and sought his wife to be produced before the court, as he was not able to contact her.

A Bench of Justices S. Muralidhar and Vinod Goel demanded an explanation from the Ghaziabad police.
