CPI(M) Slams Its Own Party Leaders For Resorting To Casteist Campaign During Assembly Elections

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) central leadership slammed its Telangana leaders for adopting a casteist campaign strategy during the recently concluded Assembly elections in the state.

According to a Deccan Herald report, the CPI (M) Telangana unit, which contested 26 seats as part of the CPI (M)-led Bahujan Left Front was slammed by the central committee as it found fault with the projection of a backward class chief minister and projection of candidates on caste identity.

“This emphasis on caste identity to the exclusion of other criteria reduced the alliance to a caste-based combination, which was a major departure from our basic approach where the class aspect must also be emphasised,” the party noted in its Report on Political Developments, adopted at a recently concluded two-day conclave.
