Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lawmaker from Hardoi, Shyam Prakash has publicly lashed out at Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath after the party’s defeat in two by-polls.
According to an NDTV report, the BJP legislator targeted the chief minister by posting a satirical poem on Facebook. Not mentioning the Adityanath’s name, Prakash has said that some people came to power on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal but their work did not please people.
“It is my opinion. Corruption is on the rise and that is the only reason people are working with their own mind. The chief minister should work harder and look into this. They must, otherwise, it won’t work,” Prakash was quoted as saying by the news channel defending his Facebook post.
In his Facebook poetry, he alleged “misgovernance” in the state and said, “The train seems to have derailed, officer-raj has completely failed…”
Prakash’s criticism gains significance as the BJP lost four major by-polls, including Gorakhpur and Phulpur, the strongholds of Adityanath and his deputy Keshav Prasad Maurya.
On Thursday, the BJP lost the Kairana parliamentary seat. It also lost the Noorpur assembly constituency to Samajwadi Party.
