Five members of a single family were killed and two others sustained injuries on Sunday when Pakistan Rangers shelled villages along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, army spokesperson at Jammu said.

Pakistan Army opened indiscriminate fire on civilian areas in Mendhar sector.

The police said that shelling from the Pakistan side started at 7:40 in the morning. “The house of a civilian identified as Muhammad Ramzan Chowdhary was hit by a shell. Chowdhary, his wife Malka Bi and three sons were killed. His two daughters were critically injured,” the police were quoted as saying.

Indian Army has retaliated strongly, effectively and proportionately to the dastardly act, the spokesperson added.
