In a rebuttal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his remark that the Congress and its leaders must learn patriotism from Mudhol hound dogs of north Karnataka, which have been inducted into the Indian army, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday said the PM confuses loyalty with patriotism.
The chief minister took on the PM for sidelining his mentor LK Advani. In a social media post, Siddaramaiah has uploaded an illustration where PM Modi is seen pulling the leash of a dog. “Prime Minister confuses loyalty (dogs are considered loyal to their masters) with patriotism because he doesn’t understand loyalty. What lessons in loyalty can we learn from a man who couldn’t be loyal to his staunchest supporter & mentor Shri LK Advani? Thanks Satish Acharya,” the chief minister tweeted.
The rivalry between Modi and Advani seems strange when one considers that Advani came to Modi’s rescue during his weakest time. After the Gujarat riots, rumours suggested that Atal Bihari Vajpayee wanted to remove Modi from the chief minister’s post in Gujarat. Apparently, it was Advani who had sided with Modi and saved his career.
