A day after Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) national coordinator Jai Prakash Singh made remarks against Congress president Rahul Gandhi, party chief Mayawati on Tuesday removed him from his post with immediate effect.
“I came to know about BSP national coordinator Jai Prakash Singh’s speech in which he spoke against the ideology of BSP and also made personal remarks against the leadership of rival parties,” Mayawati said.
“It’s his personal opinion. So, he has been removed from his post with immediate effect,” she added.
Addressing the first workers’ conference to discuss the party’s strategy for the Lok Sabha election in Lucknow on Monday, the BSP member had said that “Rahul looks more like his mother than his father. And his mother is a foreigner, thus he can never be PM.”
Singh also showered praises on Mayawati, calling her a “dabang leader”. “After playing a pivotal role in making HD Kumaraswamy the chief minister of Karnataka, Mayawati has emerged as a powerful politician. She is the only ‘dabang’ (fearless) leader who can stop the winning chariot of Narendra Modi and Amit Shah in the electoral battle,” he said.
Mayawati warned her party leaders to refrain from commenting on any decision related to alliance formation ahead of 2019 polls. “In Uttar Pradesh and in other states as well, until an alliance with a party is announced, members of the BSP should refrain from speaking anything about alliance at any level. They should leave it to the high command,” the BSP chief said.
