As Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad set out to vote on Tuesday, workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) were seen beating up the presiding officer at booth number 231.
In video grabs shared online, the workers are seen thrashing the poll official as the paramilitary personnel watched. The incident reportedly took place at the polling booth in Muradabad’s Bilari.

Earlier in the day Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav had demanded accountability from the EC over reports that large-scale EVM malfunctioning was taking place in the state as well as other parts of the country.
EVMs across India malfunctioning or voting for the BJP. DMs say poll officials untrained to operate EVMs. 350+ being replaced. This is criminal negligence for a polling exercise that costs 50,000 crs.
