As the trends suggested that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will not form a government in Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and most likely stand defeated even in Madhya Pradesh, Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Kakade has blamed the party’s shift from the development agenda for the dismal performance.

“I knew we would lose in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, but MP trends have come as a surprise. I think we forgot the issue of development that Modi took up in 2014. Ram Mandir, statues and name changing became the focus,” Kakade told ANI.

In Chhattisgarh, Congress is leading in 61 seats, while BJP is leading only in 15 seats. While in Madhya Pradesh, Congress is winning in 115 seats and BJP 105 seats. In Rajasthan, Congress is leading in 103 constituencies and BJP is leading in 68.
