BJP Leaders Are Talented Comedians; Here Are Eight Ridiculous Remarks Made By Them In 2018

It can be rightly said that Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) lawmakers have something funny, rather stupid to say every time they open their mouths.

On some days, education minister tells us that Darwin’s theory is wrong because ‘no one has seen apes turn into humans’ and on other days, BJP ministers wed frogs to please rain gods!

Here are a few hilarious statements made by BJP ministers.

1) Chant ‘Om rom jum sah’ to yield better crops: Vijay Sardesai

Goa Agriculture Minister Vijay Sardesai asked farmers to chant ‘Om rom jum sah’ for at least 20 minutes every day to yield better crops.

The minister said, “There is no money involved and as an agriculture minister, I will explore every method to increase interest in farming. If you convince me a rock show or a beauty contest will also help get people excited about agriculture, I will pull it in the middle of the fields. We need to now look into methods to get everyone interested in farming.”

2) Wed frogs to please rain gods: Lalita Yadav

Lalita Yadav, Madhya Pradesh Minister of State for Woman and Child Development organised a wedding of two frogs at a temple in Chhattarpur to please rain gods.

She said, “As the environment is not happy with Bundelkhand, we are trying to please the god to make the balance in the environment. In old days, our forefathers used to organise religious rituals at temples to please the god.”

3) Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution of man was scientifically wrong: Satyapal Singh

Union Minister Satyapal Singh said in January that Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution of man was “scientifically wrong”.

He said, “Darwin’s theory (of evolution of humans) is scientifically wrong. It needs to change in school and college curriculum. Since the man is seen on Earth he has always been a man. Nobody, including our ancestors, in written or oral, has said they saw an ape turning into a man. No books we have read or the tales told to us by our grandparents had such a mention.”

If that wasn’t enough, Singh backed his statement once again at a book launch on July 1. He said, “I am a science student and I have completed my PhD in Chemistry. Who were the ones speaking against me? And, how many people stood by me? We should be compelled to think. We get scared of the press. If not today, tomorrow. If not tomorrow, then in 10-20 years, people will accept what I said. At least, I believe that my accentors were not apes.”

4) Narad Muni was like Google: Vijay Rupani

Comparing Sage Narad Muni to multinational technology company Google, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani had said, “Google is a source of information. Narad Muni can be compared to Google because he had information about various happenings in different corners of the world.”

“However, Narad Muni never did anything that could harm humanity, which is why we consider him as a sage. A sage is a person who thinks positive about humankind and inspires the people,” Rupani added.

5) Internet in the Mahabharat era: Biplab Deb

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb left us in amusement when he claimed that internet was invented by Indians way back during Mahabharata.

He said, “India has been using internet for ages. In Mahabharata, Sanjay was blind but he narrated what was happening in the battlefield to Dhritarashtra anyway. This was due to internet and technology. The satellite also existed during that period.”

6) Open Paan shops and you will have a bank balance of Rs 5,00,000: Biplab Deb

Yet again, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb made us laugh with his funny statements. This time he said, “The youth here runs after political parties for several years to get a govt job and wastes the vital time of their life, had the same youth instead of running after parties set up a paan shop he would have by now had a bank balance of Rs 500,000.”

He further continued, “Every household should milk cows. One litre of milk is sold for Rs.50. A graduate is looking for jobs for 10 years. If he milks cows for 10 years, he will earn Rs 10 lakh.”

7) Mantras codified the laws of motion: Satyapal Singh

Union Minister Satyapal Singh made another interesting statement earlier this year. According to him, “mantra” codified laws of motion well before Isaac Newton.

He said, “There are mantras which codified ‘laws of motion’ much before it was discovered by Newton. Hence it is essential that traditional knowledge must be incorporated in our curriculum.”

8) Homosexuality is a genetic flaw: Subramanian Swamy

More than humorous, this statement was an uneducated remark made by Subramanian Swamy.

Responding to Supreme Court’s verdict on re-examining the constitutional validity of Section 377 that criminalises homosexuality, Swamy had said, “Out of the 165 countries of the world, which have independent sovereignty, 83 have criminalised homosexuality. That means half of the world. The bottom-line is, homosexuality is a genetic flaw and we cannot celebrate it. We cannot treat it as equal to normal behaviour.”

We should definitely give credit to these BJP leaders for giving us a good laugh, if not good governance!
