A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader in North 24 Parganas, West Bengal has been accused of defrauding Rs 6.65 lakh from a youth by promising him a teaching job at a primary school.
As per a report filed in Anandabazaar Patrika, the victim Manoj Biswas hails from Bagula in Hanskhali block of Nadia district and filed a written police complaint against the saffron party leader Anutosh Biswas on March 10 in Habra, North 24 Parganas.
A police officer told Anandabazaar Patrika, “Anutosh was sent a notice to present himself at the police station on March 18. He didn’t turn up. We are looking for him.”

AnandaBazaar Patrika reported, citing sources, that the accused is a primary school teacher and a well-known saffron party leader in Phultala, North 24 Parganas. The victim, Manoj, in his written statement reportedly said that he met Anutosh in 2015 and that the latter said he knew people who would give Manoj a teaching job in exchange for money.
“Two of my friends and I gave Anutosh Rs 6.65 Lakh at his house. Neither did he help us get hold of a job, nor did he return the money, ” Manoj said, reported Anandabazaar Patrika.
Manoj reportedly told the police that after that, Anutosh stopped picking up his calls. When Manoj went to his house to ask for the money back, Anutosh allegedly threatened to kill him.

A BJP leader at the Barasat chapter, Biplab Halder, told Anandabazaar Patrika, “Anutosh is a worker in our party. He actively campaigned for us during panchayat polls. Even we can’t get in touch with him. Trinamool Congress (TMC) is behind the accusation brought against him.”
The report added that Habra TMC leader Ajit Saha said, “This is the true face of BJP workers. The accusations have been brought against Anutosh by the victims. We don’t even know about the issue. The law will take its course.”
