The Bisalpur water project was set up to meet the growing water crisis in Rajasthan. But nearly 220 litres of drinking water is stuck in the tank due to improper management of the project by state water department, a Dainik Bhaskar report said.

Government tankers have to wait for hours to fill water from the Bisalpur tank as water supply department has not made the right arrangements for the water to be released.

To repair technical glitches, new pipeline proposals were sent to the Chief Engineer (Bisalpur project) by XEN and AEN (companies working on the project). But they haven’t received sanctions yet. Now, there is no water pressure which takes the water until the end of the pipeline.

The water is drawn only at the beginning of the pipeline. Water does not reach the tail end of the pipeline.

Though nearly 40,000 more government connections were provided this year for water, people are able to get only two buckets from them.

People have taken two-three water connections for one house because of shortage, said the report.

Sanganer, Jhotwada, Jagatpura, Malviya Nagar, Pratapnagar, Mansarovar and other areas face severe shortage.

There are daily demonstrations by the public across the state because of this, said the report.
