Kuldeep Singh Sengar

Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP’s) Unnao MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar was on Saturday booked for allegedly being part of a conspiracy to falsely implicate a rape victim’s father in an Arms Act case. The rape victim’s father had died in judicial custody on April 9. The MLA is under scanner for allegedly raping the victim.

According to a report in The Indian Express, a CBI official said call records of the complainant and policemen posted at the police station where the case was lodged suggested they were in touch with the MLA on April 3, the day the case was lodged.

The legislator, who is currently in jail for allegedly raping the girl in Unnao last year, was sent to two-day police remand on Saturday.

The development comes after two cops of Makhi (Unnao) police station were arrested on Wednesday for allegedly framing the rape victim’s father in a false case. They are in a three-day CBI custody since Friday.

An HT report quoted a CBI official as saying that the fresh charges were slapped on the MLA on the basis of revelations made by the two cops detained – former station house officer of Makhi police station Ashok Singh Bhadauria and sub-inspector Kamta Prasad Singh of the same police station.

The HT report quoted the probe agency official as saying that the MLA will be quizzed about the fresh case during the two-day custody and will be brought face-to-face with the cops. He also said that they would get custody of Sengar, who is currently lodged in Sitapur jail.

Earlier, the MLA had been booked for rape and kidnap of the girl, while his brother, Atul Singh Sengar, and his five aides were booked for the murder of the rape victim’s father.
