A day before the counting of Assembly election votes in Karnataka, over 1,000 postal ballot covers were found at a local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader’s hotel in Badami on Monday.

According to News 18, the postal ballot covers were with BJP workers. They were reportedly opening the postal ballots.

The Congress party told News18 that the Election Commission’s role should be probed.

Reacting to the report, Congress spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedi tweeted, “The more desperate BJP, the more desperate their tactics. How low can one go? Will EC take note?”

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is contesting from Badami against BJP heavyweight B Sriramulu, who is a close confidante of controversial mining baron Reddy brothers.
