Bad In Taste, Made With Election In Mind: Indian Army Veteran Slams Uri, The Movie

Managing Convener of Chamber of Commerce of Ex-servicemen, Colonel (Retd.) Ashok Singh slammed the makers of Hindi film, Uri: The Surgical Strike, for creating a “wrong impression”.

In a tweet, Singh said that the movie is made with the next election in mind and added that the BJP must be defeated in the next election.

Uri, starring Vicky Kaushal, Paresh Rawal and Yami Gautam, is based on the surgical strikes conducted by Indian Army against Pakistan on September 29, 2016.

Earlier this month, General Ved Prakash Malik who served as the 19th Chief of Army Staff of the Indian Army from 30 September 1997 to 30 September 2000 — he was the Army Chief during the Kargil War — had remarked on Twitter that Uri was a “Slick movie based on a known military mission. Some non-military roles exaggerated.”
