New Delhi: Andhra Pradesh MLA Sarveswara Rao and former MLA S Soma, were gunned down, allegedly by Naxals in Dumbriguda mandal of Araku valley in Visakhapatnam district.
According to PTI, police said that the two were shot dead by CPI (Maoists) in Visakhapatnam.
The deceased politicians had reportedly gone to attend a party meeting in an interior area of the district, when the Naxals allegedly stopped the vehicle in which they were travelling and shot them at point blank range, The News Minute reported.
In 2014, Rao was elected on a YSRCP ticket from Araku but had defected to the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in April 2016.
