A father attempted to kill his daughter because she had an affair with a Muslim man in Gudur, Andhra Pradesh on Friday, December 28.
The woman is a third-year engineering student, while the man, Javed, is studying arts, the Deccan Chronicle reported. The father, Siddaiah, had allegedly warned his daughter, Devasena against the affair.
Devasena and Javed were involved in a conversation at the former’s residence when Siddaiah returned home on Friday. Javed left after he realised that he might get in trouble. The father, then, attacked his daughter with a knife.
An injured Devasena called Javed who came with his friends and took her to the hospital where she got eight stitches. Later, the couple went to II Town Police Station to file a complaint against Siddaiah.
According to the report, Devasena said that she was an adult and wanted to marry Javed, but her father did not agree. She added that her father planned the attack after she called Javed to her house to discuss marriage.
The case is currently under investigation.
