42% Rise In Abduction Cases In Gurugram

According to the police data, there has been a 42 per cent rise in abduction cases in Gurugram, since 2017.

Every week, 11 abduction cases are reported on an average, revealed police data. Until 2017, eight cases of abduction were registered on an average with the police.

While 195 such cases were registered till mid-June 2017, 278 cases were filed in 2018 in the same period – an increase of 42%, reported Hindustan Times.

Most of these abductions are a result of family disputes. The police said that there is no particular pattern or a gang operating in Gurugram.

KK Rao, Gurugram commissioner of police said, “A lot of these cases were filed by parents whose daughters eloped with a man and sometimes, such cases are filed by the man’s family.”
